Thomas Coville in his maxi trimaran Sodeb'O comprehensively beat the record (subject to verification set by by the World Sailing Speed Record Council) previously set by Francis Joyon in 2005. Thomas crossed the Atlantic in 5 days, 19 hours, 29 minutes and 20 seconds beating the prevous record of 6 days, 4 hours, 1 minute and 37 seconds.

Thomas Coville and Sodeb'O are the new holders of the solo North Atlantic crossing record (subject to WSSRC).
